Teen Girls Learn the Importance of Closed Door for Fire Safety

UL platforms used to educate potential first responders

Jennifer Williams, UL NFP Marketing Specialist taught over 50 girls ages 13-17 the important role that a closed door can play in slowing a fire’s growth. She presented Close Before You Doze at Camp Fury Delaware, an introduction to emergency services careers for teen girls that provides hands-on experiences.

Unbeknownst to Jennifer in advance, the Assistant Chief Fire Marshal of Chester County, PA used the Fire Forensics: Claims and Evidence module of UL Xplorlabs to introduce the campers to basic fire concepts.

The camp is hosted by the Delaware State Fire School located in Dover, Delaware and is staffed by women in various emergency services careers including fire, emergency medical services (EMS), law enforcement, military, and more.
